Renewable obligation
Energy Storage, A technology guide for SMEs, published by the Carbon Trust in December 2019, states the Renewable Obligation (RO) was: ‘Introduced by the Government to support large-scale renewable electricity generation in the UK. A portion of your RO cost is proportionate to energy consumption, so can be reduced by taking less energy from the grid.’
